Elle's Shower and Bachelorette Party

Now that I have completed my paper and presentation for class tonight I can tell you about the fabulous weekend. It began Saturday morning, we all met up for Ellen's Little Rock shower. It was a Kappa reunion! Unfortunately that's when my camera decided to mess up so I don't have any good pictures from the weekend. Anyway, after the shower I got to bond with my sweet friends that I don't get to see near enough. That evening we met up at Boscow's with the rest of the group for the Bach. festivities. From there we went to Verizon Arena for the AI concert. We had a blast together! The night ended with a lingerie shower for Ellen.

OH, and while I was away for the weekend, Justin and Remi had an eventful day at the Swann farm. Remi got to go to the big lake and Justin got to shoot guns. Saturday night Justin and his good buddy Nathan grilled out at our house. AND I cannot forget to mention that my sweet husband cleaned the house while I was gone!!

Domestic Life

I suppose I was in the mood to cook/bake yesterday. Is it just me or does it seem like preparing certain meals become an all day process? Anyway, the theme was Mexican -only because handsome loves Mexican food- and we asked mom and dad to come over to dine with us. It is so hard to just cook for two because you end up with so much left over and neither one of us enjoys left overs. I fixed Sangria to drink, a Mexican dish as the main course, cheese dip and chips, and we had strawberry, banana, blueberry trifle for dessert. Way too much food!!!

Sangria

1/4 cup of lemon slices

1/4 cup of lime slices

1/4 cup of orange slices

1/4 cup of pineapple chunks

2 cups of red wine

1/2 cups of peach rum or brandy

1 cup of orange juice

1/2 lemon/lime soda (if you desire)

3 cups of ice

Mom and I enjoyed it! Justin and Dad not so much.

Tasty Strawberry, Banana, Blueberry Trifle

Serves 12

Prep time 25 min

1 (5 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
3 cups cold milk
1 (9 inch) angel food cake, cut in cubes
3 bananas, sliced
1 (16 ounce) package frozen strawberries, thawed or container of fresh strawberries
1 (12 ounce) container frozen whipped cream
1 package of blueberries

Prepare pudding with milk according to package directions. In a trifle bowl or other glass serving dish, layer half the cake pieces, half the pudding, half the bananas, half the strawberries and half the whipped topping. Repeat layers. Cover and chill in refrigerator 4 hours before serving.

A treat for my hunk! Justin loves tea, especially sweet tea, so today I decided
-for the first time- to make him sweet tea. Like the lady at the dentist office told me, "He is such a jewel, Megan." I believe it! I am so proud to be his wife and this was just a little way to show him my love.

Guilty pleasure treats

If you were to ask me in college what a guilty pleasure of mine was I might have said watching The O.C. or Dawson's Creek with a big group of girls while eating Haribo gummy bears or Dove chocolate and drinking a Diet Dr Pepper. Now, being 24 years old, I would have to say Scooby-Doo fruit snacks. Are you serious? One might ask. Well of course!

I was grocery shopping yesterday and just couldn't resist. You are missing out if you have never experienced this TASTE EXPLOSION, as my friend Ali would say.

Oh, and I cannot leave this post without mentioning a close second runner up....a glass of Pinot Noir.

A day at the lake, golf, and deer

Saturday morning Justin and I headed to the lake to meet up with a group from church. Most of the group camped the night before -with excellent weather- but we couldn't make it so we came up for the lake day. I was ecstatic because this was our first time to hang out at the lake this summer, due to a busy schedule! We had the best time hanging out with friends and making new ones - there were about 40 people, 2 ski boats, 1 barge, and two jet skies. I am really trying to take more pictures - here are a few.

We had to leave the lake trip a little earlier than we wanted due to a call Justin received about someone who was interested in the boat we had for sale. Even though we wanted to stay and play we are so happy that we did leave because we sold the boat!!! WOO HOO! I think Justin is a little sad about not having his boat but we agree that it was just taking up space in the garage and we didn't use it as much as we would like. So after making the sell (thanks to my husband) we headed to the golf course to play a few holes.

Look at that swing

Relaxing. Hey, I played a couple holes

After golfing we drove out to see the new HP building where Justin will be working in January, which is very nice, modern, and environment friendly. A beautiful location. While we were out we went to round mountain and admired tons of gorgeous homes and DEER.

Music

I've always said that to have music behind your life story would make it 10x better. If only we could. Take great movie or television scenes for instance- these scenes are so much more striking and powerful b/c of the music that plays in the background. Yes, some may say this is one way to reveal that I am a dreamer... so let it be.

I was reminded of this when I 'you tubed' Adele - hometown glory (which I love). Of course a dozen other titles popped up with the same title so I scrolled down to find the song within a television series called One Tree Hill. After watching one portion of their story unfold I was once again amazed at the way a song can make someones story 10x better.

If you have a second, please take a look at what I mean....

Also, I'm attaching a new favorite song of mine- just for kicks. It's James Morrison (a sure talent) ft. Nelly Furtado - Broken Strings.

We hope you have a great weekend!

Diddy's Birthday & The 4th

We had a great time celebrating my dad's birthday & the 4th of July! Every year the Swann's have a big 4th of July party at their farm - a lot of family, friends, food, and fun!! I really tried to keep my camera with me to take pictures but I got busy socializing and did not get that many photos. Here are a few...

Diddy, Mom, and Nan joined us at the farm for a little while.

This is our neice, Malyn. She is precious and oh so happy! We love her so much!

Buffalo Trip

This June we started a tradition of an annual Buffalo River trip. We all had a blast and we're really looking forward to next year. Here are some photos of the adventure.

So cute!

Yep, you got it - Justin and I tipped over - and we were the only ones. Hey, it makes for a good story, right? Everyone was so gracious to wait on us while we gathered our belongings. Unfortunately, we lost a fishing pole during our flip.

Sorry about the picture quality. Ali brought water cameras so that we wouldn't have to risk our cameras getting wet. Thanks Ali!!
