4 Months

*4 months*

If you remember, I mentioned at 3 months that B is content, observant, and independent. Those are still characteristics of his little personality; however, he isn’t always independent. He’s figured out the system. He still puts himself to sleep and he doesn’t mind playing by himself, but sometimes he is needy. I’m not complaining, though. It feels good to know that he needs us. We find it humorous because he will make such a fuss when we leave his sight, and then we’ll come back into his view and he’s perfectly fine.

Bub eats 6 ounces, every 3.5 hours, 4 times a day. We just got the okay from his doctor to start cereal. I’m thinking I may wait until he’s 5 months. We’ll see.

Our night time routine is the same. We start at 6:30; bath, feeding, bed. B is usually asleep by 7:00-7:15p.m. and wakes up at 6:30 – 7:00 a.m.

His naps are still inconsistent. He fights naps. We joke that he just does not want to miss out on anything, but sometimes it’s hard on momma because he needs his naps.

He still LOVES baths, and pretty much everything he tries.

He enjoys hanging out on his side. I don't understand, but whatever floats his boat.

Stats: He weighs 15 lbs 13 oz (71%). He’s 25 ¾ in. long (80%), and his head is 17 in. (71%). Needless to say, we have a big boy!

After the dreaded shots. :( You can see his boo boo spots from the shots. He's so tough, though.

Bubba, you have expanded our hearts. We love you and you enrich our lives each day!

Happy 4 months, love bug.

Graduation, Sleeping baby, & Skinny Girl

This Saturday we made a full day trip to Little Rock to watch Uncle Jeff (Justin's baby brother) graduate from the William H. Bowen School of Law. While we were there we also visited Nonnie, Justin's grandmother, who just had brain surgery. She was moved to rehab last week and is continuing to impress her nurses with her strength and "fight." She is a fighter. After visiting Nonnie at the hospital we met up with the Swann family for dinner. While we were away, Brody got some quality time with my parents, Lolly and Pops. This was the longest I had been away from B, and boy did I miss him. It gave me practice for this upcoming weekend, as I prepare myself to be away from him for a couple days. I am beyond excited to spend a weekend with some of my best friends and sweet Kappa sisters.

Congratulations to all our friends and family who graduated this weekend. We are SO proud of you.

Family picture before we left town

Yesterday, the three of us went to eat a late lunch at one of my favorite spots in town. Bub is great when we go anywhere and usually he is a awake and looking around at everything, but this trip out was different. He snoozed almost the entire time we were there and when he woke up he was as happy as can be.

So peaceful when he sleeps

When we got home from lunch B played on his play mat and took a nap while Justin and I watched The King's Speech. Its been forever since we've been to the movies or rented one, and I have been wanting to see this one. It did not disappoint.

Update: This weekend I finally tried Bethany's Skinny Girl Margarita, thanks to my wonderful husband, and I love it. I've had several conversations with some of y'all about it so I wanted to share my opinion. One glass is definitely my limit. :)

Justin's mini me

Yesterday, my boys had on matching Polo's, so I had to snap a quick pic of Justin with his mini me.

In other news, today is an exciting day around our house....bub decided to roll over. I put him down on his play mat while I went in the kitchen to clean bottles. A minute or two went by and I decided to go check on him. The first time I went in the living room to check on him he had rolled to his side and he was just sucking on his fingers (sick I know but its what they do). The next time I checked he had rolled to his tummy. I was SO excited! I was clapping and telling him how proud I was of him, and I guess he thought that was funny because he started giggling. Goodness, I love these days. We hit another milestone folks and it feels good! :)

****************

Up until the time I got pregnant, I never, well, hardly ever ate meat. You name it; burgers, steak. No thank you. I was a picky eater. Justin will testify to this as it very much annoyed him. I would only eat fish, chicken, and turkey. So, while I was pregnant I was shocked when I wanted to eat a burger. Random fact: I experienced my first sonic burger while I was preg. Now, I'm amazed at how different I eat. I crave red meat, now. It's crazy to me. I speak of this because last night Justin grilled steak (because I bought it and I was craving it) and it was AMAZING!

Just checking it all out

[I'm a little late with this post. I tried to post last Friday but Blogger wasn't letting that happen.]

A few weeks ago bub mastered his head/neck control.

I'll let the pictures prove this fact....

Oh, and his favorite toy to grab and "talk" to on his play mat.........

Mr. Birdy.

[question: why do I feel the need to give every animal a title; like Mr. or Ms.?? Does anyone else do this or am I the only weird mom?!] I'm sure we'll go to the zoo and he'll point and say "Mom, look at Mr. Zebra...."

Oh well, at least he is learning. I'm thoroughly enjoying this stage because he is just soaking everything in. I so badly want to know what he is thinking. :)

Luckiest Girl

I’m the luckiest girl …

to have the BEST momma. She’s my best friend, encourager, supporter and she loves me for me. Always has and always will.

to have such a loving mother–in-law. She is so fun to be around and brings so much laughter into our life!

{We love you, Mom and Lisa!}

to be Brody’s mommy. It is by far my greatest accomplishment. He makes me love stronger, live better, enjoy the simple things in life, and count my MANY blessings.

To say I’ve been spoiled rotten this weekend is an understatement. Justin went above and beyond to show me how much he appreciates me and how much he [Brody and Remi…haha] loves me. He is so thoughtful. Friday when Brody and I got home from a LONG day, Justin surprised me with a new frame/burlap board for our house created by the ever–so-talented Marietta. Yesterday, Brody and I got home from a shower, and after giving us a hug and kiss, Justin tells me I need to go outside. Of course I light up because I LOVE surprises. I walked out to new patio furniture, a sweet card and a margarita waiting for me. [Side note: I’ve wanted to try Bethany Frankel’s Skinny Girl Margarita for forever. Have you tried it?? I make comments ALL THE TIME to J. Well bless his heart he goes to get it for me and the distributor is sold out. Instead he gets me two different low cal brands to try and reassures me that he’ll try again later for the Skinny girl. Precious.] Last night Justin fixed a tasty dinner for us; grilled chicken and grilled corn on the cob. Today, not only did he let me sleep in while he fed bub, he also slaved away cleaning every inch of our house. BLESSED!

Who wouldn't want to be his momma?!!!

[this picture was taken this past week after a woman at Walmart said "honey he must look like his daddy becuase he looks nothing like you." I texted it to Justin with the woman's comment and MY comment. :) Who says that to a momma. Even if it is true! ]

Happy Mothers' day to all the beautiful mom's and soon-to-be mom's!! I hope you are having the best day!
