Double Digits!

We've hit the double digits, friends! 98 days to go!

26 weeks

Stats: Our baby is growing and I definitely felt that this past week. He now weighs a full 2 pounds and measures in at 9-plus inches long. [We will find out for sure what his stats are a week from Monday!] A momentous development this week: his eyes are beginning to open.
Movement: On my way to work every morning 'we' listen to praise and worship music (yes, I sing) and it's one of his most active times of day! I love it! [I've introduced him to a plethora of music types hoping that he will be musically inclined!]
Last night, for the first time, I woke up to his movement and to be honest I'm not going to get upset if he continues to wake me up in the middle of the night with movement...I love knowing he is having himself a big time in there! :)
Feeling: Pretty good. I've had some back issues but other than that I'm great!
Food: Still no cravings. Sometimes I know exactly what I want to eat and other times I cannot decide. Italian and Chinese food never sound good to me.
Favorite moment of the week: Putting our little loves crib together and sprucing it up with his bedding! The nursery is starting to have the exact 'feel' I was hoping for!
We started his polo collection this week, thanks to TJ Max and More!
Regular price =$50-$55
TJ price= $15
Justin loves white polo's, so we had to get the 2T white polo for him to match his daddy!
I've got to leave you with a picture of the cutest bubble bee I've ever seen!! :)

[I know I'm biased, but come on how adorable is she!!]

Enjoy this beautiful Sunday!!

Request

At the request of Mrs. Marietta and Mrs. Amber....

....because he is now ready to show himself and my belly is growing, they think it's best for me to do weekly photos/posts again. I will TRY. No promises! :)

105 days to go!
25 weeks along
Stats: Our baby is growing by leaps and bounds, this week reaching 9 inches in length and more than 1 1/2 in weight. His vocal cords are functioning now, leading to occasional hiccups (which I will certainly be feeling).

Movement: All throughout the day!

Feeling: Great! I have loved being pregnant this second trimester! I started sleeping with a full body pillow because I was having lower back issues earlier this week and the pillow has helped.

Food: I'm loving fruit and vegetables, carbs, salads, sweets and chi tea lattes. Nothing too unusual.

Favorite moment of the week: Preface: The last two class periods each day I help two fifth grade teachers teach and work one on one with students who struggle with literacy. I've yet to tell the classes that I am pregnant. Well, two of my sweet boys came up to me this week [probably because it's now obvious that I am with child] and said "Mrs. Swann, we know it's not proper to ask a girl about weight... are you pregnant?" I then reply with a laugh and "I sure am!" Then the one boy that asked me hit the other boy and said "see Noah I told you she was!"

However, as it is written:"No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him"
I Corinthians 2:9

I hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday. We're off to church!

Race For the Cure

I realize it is Saturday and I am just now posting pictures from last Saturday... it has been a crazy, busy week. Better late than never, right?

Last weekend, I got to hang out with my extended family as we participated in the Race for the Cure and celebrated my aunt Beckye, close family friends, and millions of other inspiring women.
Towards the middle of the race these firemen are always there to dance and throw pink and purple beads as you walk by. The music is always fun, too.

After the actual race there is a "celebration parade" for all of the survivors, and it's by far my favorite part of the race.

There she is...hat, boa, beads, pompom and all! 5 and 1/2 years cancer free!

After the race we went back to Britt and Phillip's house for an amazing brunch! I'm talking fresh fruit, homeade quiche, breakfast casserole, and mini muffins! [Just typing it is making me want it all over again!!!]

[If you have never participated in this race, I highly recommend it!!]

Six Months

24 weeks:

Stats: Our little guy is 1 1/2 pounds and about 8 1/2 inches. He has outgrown the fruit references and is now the size of a standard letter. By now, our baby's tiny face is almost fully formed.

Movement: All throughout the day! Thankfully, he rests when I rest because he has yet to wake me up in the middle of the night with his movement. I still frequent the bathroom a few times a night, though.

Feeling: Great! I have loved being pregnant this second trimester! However, I cannot say that about the first trimester.

Food: Nothing too exciting. I eat most of the same food I ate before being pregnant. I'm loving fruit and vegetables, carbs, and CHOCOLATE. Yes, I have my love for chocolate back. :)
Favorite moment of the week: Well it wasn't exactly this week...a few weeks ago Justin got to feel him move and that was special. It is so fun for me when close friends and family get to feel him move around.

Nursery and Random

Well, I just spent way too much time looking at baby bedding on Etsy. WOW! If we were having a girl I would go through Etsy to custom design her bedding because I love Amy Butler's line called 'love.' However, we are having a sweet little boy, and unfortunately I did not find fabric that I loved as much as the Serena and Lily fabric I found about a month ago. I've known what I wanted to do with his nursery, I just had to find the perfect bedding. The idea of the room is classic, chic, and serene. We don't want matchy-matchy, more eclectic pieces are what we are going for. I cannot wait to share the finished project! For now, here is a sneak peak...

As for Justin's nursery project....my in-laws saved Justin and Jon's baby cribs, and they are so kindly giving us Justin's old crib to use in the nursery! I love it for so many reasons, the most important reason being that it was J's baby bed and now it's going to be our baby boy's! It's a nice crib[27 years ago they purchased it for $600 - CRAZY!! - not to mention they got two]. It really doesn't need much work, just a new coat of paint. Most of the furniture we are using are vintage pieces that we are restoring.

On a more random note, have y'all heard Carrie Underwood's new tune, "Mama's Song" ? I love it! It takes me back to such a sweet and special time as I think about my momma and handsome. I only wish she got married around the same time I did so that I could have used the song in some form or fashion.

I tried a new recipe this afternoon - homemade apple bread. So now I'm going to head into the kitchen and fix a tall glass of milk with a slice (or two) of this deliciousness. I found the recipe here. As you can see from the photo below, the recipe makes a loaf of bread and 10-12 muffins.

Happy Birthday Candace!

Last night, after we got off work, Justin and I headed to L.R. to meet family and celebrate my SIL's birthday. We met everyone at Bravo; an Italian restaurant at the Chenal Promenade. Jon had arranged for us to be placed in this neat, little nook of a room right when you enter the restaurant, and it was perfect. It was like our own little area but we could still see the patio and the open dinning room. Sweet little Malyn was able to roam around without distracting others. After a lovely dinner and cake we managed to snap a few photos....

A big thank you to Jon for treating us to a fabulous dinner, and a another "HAPPY Birthday" to my wonderful SIL!

Fishin' Trip

This past weekend Justin traveled to Melrose, LA for an annual fishing trip. This year he managed to get a few pictures. The house they stayed at used to be an old plantation farm with a large pecan forest.

This is where they watched football and ate

he fished in this boat [my father-in-law's boat]

While handsome was away I had a lunch date with Jill, ate dinner and watched football with my dad, shopped, cleaned, worked on lesson plans, and got to visit with Am.

I'll leave you with a picture of my roommate for the weekend....

[notice the ball...she couldn't live without it!!!]
